Last night, October 21, 2015, was our monthly FFA meeting. Members participated in a costumes contest, "What would you eat for $5?" and a pumpkin carving contest. Each member participated and worked in groups to make the spookiest, most creative, and/or best agriculture themed pumpkins. This month's "What would you eat for $5?" was pickled pacaya palm. Santa Ynez FFA would also like to give a special thank you to the Chamberlin Family for donating pumpkins for the pumpkin carving contest. |

On saturday, October 17, 2015, 24 Santa Ynez FFA members attended the Santa Barbara Section Opening/Closing Ceremonies competition. This competition is based on the script FFA officers say at the beginning and end of each meeting. These 24 members worked diligently to be able to memorize and perform their part by October 17th. Our novice team and both open teams made it to the second round. Great job to the novice team for placing 8th in their division and Open Team-Slobig for placing 2nd in their division. Congratulations to our chapter officers for placing 4th! Also, big congratulations to Ethan Usher for earning Outstanding Sentinel for the open division.
